Robert Bateman Hockey

Hockey Class

Robert Bateman Secondary has offered a hockey program since 2012.  The program is open to male and female students in grade 9-12.  We cater to all abilities, from first year players with limited hockey experience to Major Midget and Jr. B players.  All instruction on ice follows the five fundamental skills outlined by Hockey Canada (skating, puck control, passing, shooting and checking).  There are two classes, both are offered in the second semester.   Students receive approximately 40 on ice and 40 off ice sessions, goalies will receive individual goalie instruction throughout the semester.  2018-2019 cost $320. Please contact Mr. Dods or Mr. Wismer if interested in joining the class.

Daily Schedule

The hockey class begins every other day at ARC (Fridays at Centre Ice) at 8am.  All students must find their own ride to the rink and be ready to start the practice at 8:00 sharp.  We are on the ice until 9am, then the kids must get changed and be on the school bus provided ready to leave at 9:20am.  We arrive back at RBSS at approximately 9:40am.  The kids store their hockey bags in the football portable and then head to their second period class.  At the end of the day they must get their hockey bags from the portable and take them home.  On days when they are not on the ice they will attend school at the regular time and during second period participate in their Strength and Conditioning class.
